MOUNTAIN FIRE LOOKOUT TOWER

Located off of Highway 32/64 in Mountain, WI is a sign for the “Mountain Fire Lookout Tower.” If you follow the signage about 2-3 miles, you will arrive to the tower entrance. Once at the entrance, there is about a 0.5 mile gravel road to get to the tower and there is parking available for about 7 vehicles at the top.

The tower itself was built in 1935 and was once part of an extensive lookout tower network. It was then restored in 2015-2016 and is open to the public May 1st – Nov 1st from 8am – sunset. It’s 100-feet tall and overlooks the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and Oconto County. HIGH CLIFF STATE PARK

Located on the northeast part of Lake Winnebago, this state park has several short-range hiking trails to take in the fall foliage from down below. On top of that, it also has a 40 foot observation tower to view the foliage from above. On a clear day, you can see the cities of Appleton, Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha and Kaukauna. PENINSULA STATE PARK – EAGLE TOWER

There were several towers at this state park in the past, but the most recent one opened in 2021. Located on Eagle Bluff, the tower is 60 feet high and overlooks Green Bay, the Upper Michigan Shoreline and the village of Ephraim. This one is also handicap accessible! You can either climb 100 steps or take the 850-foot canopy walk/ramp to reach the top.
