When I stumbled across pictures of Jenny’s Canyon in Snow Canyon State Park, I knew I had to go. What surprised me the most was how accessible and easy Jenny’s Canyon hike is. Continue reading below for all the details on hiking Jenny’s Canyon!
WHERE IS JENNY’S CANYON LOCATED?
Jenny’s Canyon is located in Utah’s Snow Canyon State Park. It’s just 20 minutes from St. George and 2 hours from Las Vegas.
The parking lot for the hike is located at the following GPS coordinates: 37.18830160744618, -113.64438558843638
IS THERE A COST TO HIKE JENNY’S CANYON?
While there isn’t a cost or permit required for the hike, there is an admission fee to the state park. As of 2024, the admission fee is $15 per vehicle if you are a non-Utah resident and $10 per vehicle if you are a Utah resident.
The nice thing with an admission is that you can not only explore Jenny’s Canyon, but all the other sights this park has to offer. Below is a link to the map of the park that you receive upon entering.

JENNY’S CANYON HIKE
The hike to Jenny’s Canyon is rated as easy with a relatively flat path and distance of 0.5 miles total (out and back.) The path to the canyon is mostly sand until the last 20 feet, where you have to hike up a few rocky steps.
Once you’re in the canyon, it’s flat and sandy again. You can walk all the way into the canyon until it comes to an end. The length of the canyon is about 40 yards.
After soaking in the canyon views, you can opt to go up to Jenny’s Overlook. This trail extends another 0.1 mile up (one-way), but is a bit more moderate with a steeper incline and rocky path. It’s worth the short hike though for a nice view from above!
WHEN TO VISIT JENNY’S CANYON?
We visited Jenny’s Canyon on a Saturday around 6:30pm and we were the only ones there! However, I can imagine it gets quite busy during prime daytime hours. Parking at the Canyon is limited so if you go during the mid-day, be prepared to wait for parking to open up.
HOW MUCH TIME TO SPEND AT JENNY’S CANYON?
We had the place to ourselves and spent about 25 minutes at Jenny’s Canyon. We felt that was enough time for us to soak in the views and take some photos before continuing onto our next adventure of the day.
I didn’t see any picnic tables or anything where you could stay and have lunch, etc.
